After the 2024-2025 academic year it is safe to say that LeMoyne-Owen College athletics is trending in the right direction. "It has been a total team effort with everyone doing their part to put our student athletes in the best position to succeed", said LOC athletics director William Anderson.
LOC now has 13 sponsored sports with the latest addition of men's volleyball. Over the course of the last couple years the college has seen a rise in graduation rates for student athletes. In fact, it's the student athletes that have the highest graduation rates of any students at the college. This year the Magicians athletics had 7 sports teams with a cumulative gpa of 3.0 or better, during either the first or second semester of the school year. Those sports teams included, men's track & field, women's basketball, softball and women's volleyball. Men's track and field and women's basketball had the highest averages of all athletes. Both programs maintained a cumulative average of 3.0 or higher throughout the entire year.
The importance of the student athlete at LeMoyne-Owen is crucial. "Each year we set goals and look to equip our student athletes with resources to be successful, it's great to see their hard-work paying off", said compliance director Stella Woodley.
The Magicians will get back to work this fall, looking to set new goals, and reach new heights in the classroom and on their respective playing fields.
