The LeMoyne-Owen baseball team faced a challenging conference road series as they traveled to Mobile, Alabama to take on Spring Hill College. Over the course of three games, the Magicians battled but ultimately fell in each contest, dropping the series by scores of 9 to 3, 8 to 1, and 13 to 1. Despite the outcomes, several LeMoyne-Owen players delivered strong individual performances and continued to compete against a tough opponent.
In game one, the Magicians showed early promise and offensive consistency, finishing with 11 hits in the contest. Sincere Lozano provided energy at the top of the lineup, scoring two runs and reaching base to help set the tone. Ryan Meglis turned in one of the most impressive individual performances of the game, going 4 for 5 with a double and a run scored, consistently finding ways to get on base and create opportunities. Narrada Smith contributed in a big way with a double and two RBIs, accounting for the majority of the team's run production. While the offense showed life, defensive miscues and key innings from Spring Hill proved to be the difference, as LeMoyne-Owen was unable to keep pace late in the game.
Game two saw the Magicians continue to compete at the plate, though they were limited to one run on six hits. Onterio Seaille led the way with a strong performance, going 2 for 4 and reaching base three times. Sincere Lozano added two hits and a walk, continuing his consistent presence in the lineup. Ryan Meglis contributed an RBI, driving in the lone run for the Magicians, while also drawing two walks to keep pressure on the defense. Despite putting runners on base throughout the game, LeMoyne-Owen left 12 runners stranded, which ultimately proved costly in a tightly contested match-up. The pitching staff battled through key situations, but Spring Hill capitalized on timely hits to secure the win.
In the series finale, the Magicians fell 13 to 1 but continued to show flashes of offensive potential. Narrada Smith delivered another standout performance, going 2 for 3 with a double and consistently driving the ball. Seth Terrell added a hit and contributed both at the plate and on the mound, showing versatility for the Magicians. The lone run for LeMoyne-Owen came through disciplined situational play, as the team continued to look for ways to manufacture offense. However, defensive struggles and a strong offensive showing from Spring Hill made it difficult for the Magicians to close the gap.
Across the three game series, several LeMoyne-Owen players stood out with consistent production. Ryan Meglis was a key contributor, combining to go 4 for 8 in the first two games with a double, an RBI, and multiple runs scored. Sincere Lozano added three hits and reached base consistently, providing stability at the top of the order. Narrada Smith delivered timely hits throughout the series, including multiple extra base hits and two RBIs in game one, along with another strong performance in the finale. Onterio Seaille contributed two hits and reached base multiple times in game two, helping spark the offense.
While the results did not reflect in the win column, the Magicians showed the ability to generate hits and create scoring opportunities against conference competition. The series also highlighted areas for growth, particularly in capitalizing on runners in scoring position and tightening up defensively in key moments.
LeMoyne-Owen will now look to regroup as they return home for their next match-up on April 8. The Magicians will travel to St. Louis, MO to take on Harris Stowe University in a non conference doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and game two is set for 3:00 p.m. With valuable experience gained from this road series, LeMoyne-Owen will aim to bounce back and turn those lessons into success on their home field.
