LeMoyne-Owen College freshman pitcher
Jayden Smith was named 2nd Team All-SIAC earlier this week, after a stellar freshman campaign.
The 6'1 freshman made his mark on the Magicians program this season, and is the first Magician freshman to be selected to an all conference team in over 25 years. Smith was one of many reasons for a turn around season for the team who finished 16-25, after finishing 4-30 just a season ago. Jayden pitched over 60 innings and tallied 34 strikeouts for the season. Smith showcased his versatility for the Magicians and served as a dual position threat.
Jayden is already an earlier front runner for pitcher of the year, and could also make a case as player of the year in the upcoming season. "The sky is the limit for Jayden, he's already done a lot of great things for our program and we're excited for what's next", said Magicians Head Coach
Brian Young. Smith, a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was one of 3 freshmen in the SIAC to be named to an all conference team this season.
The Magicians will look to build on this years success this off-season and have already started gearing up for a run towards securing and SIAC playoff spot in the 2026 season.
