MEMPHIS, Tenn.- The Tigers from Savannah State split a doubleheader with The Magicians on Saturday, winning the first game 19-5 and losing the second contest 7-6.
The first game saw the Tigers collect 19 hits but leave 26 runners on base while The Magicians made seven errors and stranded 22 runners on base.
Savannah State hit a two run single in the top of the first inning to give SSU the early lead. The Magicians would claw their way back tie game in the bottom of the third but Savannah State answers in the fifth with five runs to go ahead 9-4.
LOC would never recover and go on to lose the game 19-4.
The second game was the first time LeMoyne-Owen beat the Tigers. Dating back to 1995, Savannah State had defeated the Magicians in all 19 meetings. A walk-off RBI by Jonathon Coleman led to a 7-6 Magician win. The win was one of the biggest wins in recent memory for the Magicians, considering they hadn't beat Savannah State in over a decade.
Game three was all Savannah State who shut the Magicians out 12-0. The Magicians will look to bounce back this weekend on the road at Miles College.
