With a brand new head coach and over 25 new athletes, not many people knew what to expect from the LeMoyne-Owen cross country team."I've been following the team all-season and I've been really impressed with their effort", said men's basketball coach Bonzi Wells.
Wells, who was in the same position as Stevens is in last year, knows just how hard that first season can be. The adjustment for Stevens seems a little more challenging because a majority of her athletes are first time cross country runners.
The team is more than 80 percent through their season after their most recent meets at the Topper Trails Classic and the University of the Ozarks invitational.
The biggest test of the season will come in the SIAC Championships.
Although the team hasn't finished in the top half of their meets this season, it's still been a great year because of the progress they have made. For most of the athletes, cross country is being used as a spring board to achieve success in the upcoming track and field season.
The team will travel to Rock Hill, South Carolina on November 4th. There they will compete in the SIAC Championships. The meet is scheduled to start at 9:00am
