Magicians Stay Red Hot with Series Sweep Over Clark Atlanta

The LeMoyne-Owen baseball team continued its impressive surge with a commanding three game conference sweep over Clark Atlanta University at home. With the victories, the Magicians extended their winning streak to five games and showed significant growth in both offensive execution and pitching consistency. LeMoyne-Owen secured the series with scores of 16 to 15 in game one, 5 to 2 in game two, and 5 to 3 in the finale, proving their ability to win in a variety of ways.

Game one of the series was a high scoring battle that tested the resilience of both teams. After falling behind early, the Magicians erupted for eight runs in the third inning to take control of the game. They added key runs late, including a five run ninth inning that ultimately sealed the dramatic 16 to 15 victory.

The offensive production in game one was led by several standout performances. Cedric Poellnitz II delivered a dominant outing at the plate, going 3 for 6 with three doubles and three RBIs. His ability to drive the ball into the gaps provided a spark for the middle of the lineup. Seth Terrell also had a huge impact, finishing 2 for 3 with a home run, four RBIs, and four walks. His patience at the plate and timely power hitting made him one of the most dangerous hitters in the game.

Narrada Smith contributed another strong performance, going 3 for 6 with a home run, two doubles, and two RBIs. Ibrahim Marrero added to the offensive explosion with a 3 for 5 performance that included a home run and two RBIs, while scoring three runs. Ryan Meglis, despite not recording a hit, still made his presence felt by driving in three runs, showcasing the team's ability to produce offense in multiple ways.

On the mound, Kevin Maya started the game and recorded eight strikeouts over 4.1 innings, battling through a tough outing to keep the Magicians within striking distance. The bullpen provided critical innings down the stretch, allowing the offense to complete the comeback victory.

Game two presented a much different tone, as LeMoyne-Owen relied on strong pitching and timely hitting to secure a 5 to 2 win. The Magicians were more efficient offensively, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to break the game open and take control.

Aidan McCallister turned in one of the best pitching performances of the season, throwing a complete game while allowing just two runs on six hits and striking out four batters. His command and composure on the mound set the tone for the Magicians and limited Clark Atlanta's offensive opportunities throughout the game.

Offensively, Ibrahim Marrero once again delivered, going 2 for 3 with a home run and an RBI. His consistent production across the series proved to be a major factor in the Magicians' success. Ryan Meglis added a hit and a run scored, while Sincere Lozano contributed with a hit and a run as well.

The final game of the series saw LeMoyne-Owen complete the sweep with a 5 to 3 victory, combining solid pitching with timely hitting to secure the win. The Magicians maintained their composure in a competitive game, continuing to capitalize on key opportunities and limit mistakes.

Across the series, several players stood out with impressive combined performances. Cedric Poellnitz II led the offense with a total of four hits, including three doubles, and drove in three runs, consistently delivering in clutch situations. Seth Terrell was equally impactful, combining for two hits, four RBIs, and four walks in game one while continuing to contribute offensively throughout the series.

Narrada Smith turned in one of the most complete performances, finishing the series with three hits, including a home run and two doubles, while driving in multiple runs. Ibrahim Marrero was one of the most consistent hitters across the series, combining for five hits, two home runs, and three RBIs, while scoring multiple runs and providing a steady presence in the lineup.

Onterio Seaille contributed by getting on base and setting the tone at the top of the lineup, scoring runs and creating opportunities for the middle of the order. Meanwhile, the pitching staff showed growth, highlighted by McCallister's complete game performance and key contributions from the bullpen in high pressure moments.

As a team, LeMoyne-Owen displayed a balanced approach throughout the series, combining power hitting with disciplined at bats and improved pitching execution. Their ability to adjust between high scoring and low scoring games demonstrates the versatility that will be crucial as the season progresses.

With the sweep, the Magicians continue to build momentum and confidence as they move deeper into conference play. The five game winning streak reflects a team that is beginning to play with cohesion and purpose on both sides of the ball.

LeMoyne-Owen will now look to carry this momentum into their next conference series on March 14 and 15, as they travel to Atlanta, Georgia to take on Morehouse College. Games one and two are scheduled for March 14 at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., with the series finale set for March 15 at 1:00 p.m., as the Magicians aim to keep the winning rolling and continue their strong push through conference play.
