The LeMoyne-Owen College women's basketball team dropped their season opener 63-51 at home to Savannah State University. The Lady Magicians are now 0-5 in their last five meetings with the Lady Tigers. In the first two quarters the Lady Magicians traded baskets and trailed by just six points at the break. The team shot just %28 from the field prior to half time and were 0-7 from three point range. Despite their poor shooting, they still managed to stay in the game.
In the second half Savannah State would jump all over the Lady Magicians, winning the third quarter 22-12. The Lady Tigers would increase their six point halftime lead to sixteen heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Magicians would outscore the Lady Tigers 17-13 in the fourth quarter but would never quite get back in the game. Senior guard
Marley Freeman lead the Lady Magicians with 17 points to go along with 2 assist and 2 steals. Freeman was the teams lone double figure scorer.
The Lady Magicians will return to action this Saturday at 3:00pm. The game will be played at Bruce-Johnson Hall.
