The LeMoyne-Owen women's volleyball team is now 0-4 after opening week losses to Fayetteville State, Christian Brothers, UT Southern, and Harris-Stowe.
Despite the rocky start, Lady Magicians head coach Reginald Morris is extremely optimistic about the remainder of the season. "We're not going to panic, we know that it's going to take a little time to develop the chemistry we need to perform the way we want to", said Morris.
The Lady Magicians returned six players from last seasons team and have several newcomers that they will be depending on heavily this season. Leadership will be crucial if the team wants to start gaining momentum as they get deeper into their schedule. Senior defensive specialist Honesty Campbell, who was one of the top defenders in the conference last season, will play a huge role in that. Through the first few games Campbell is leading the team in digs, something she did as a junior last season. Sy'raia Sandifer and Madison Stepter will also be depended on to lead this team to the promise land with their experience and leadership.
The Lady Magicians have struggled to win sets this season early on , and had their most success in a 3-2 loss to Harris-Stowe. On the bright side, all of their team goals are still reachable. The Lady Magicians are hoping to finish in the top half of the SIAC standings and qualify for post season play.
The team will return to action tomorrow evening on the road at Fisk University. The match is scheduled for a 5:00pm start.
