Women's Softball Stumble Into Off-Season

The LeMoyne-Owen College women's softball team finished their first season in over two years, that's the good news. The bad news is that the Lady Magicians struggled to find wins and finished the season 1-23 on the year. For a lot of the players this was the first time playing softball at a high level. Like many other programs around the nation the Covid-19 pandemic negatively impacted the teams recruiting and off season workouts.

The teams lone victory came in a 16-15 win vs Allen University in the SIAC Crossover. "That win was big for our program, it was good for our women to see that if we play the right way and compete than we will give ourselves a chance to win", said Morris. Although the team was very inexperienced and didn't win many games, losing built character and a hunger that hopefully leads to more wins in the 2023 season.  The Lady Magicians lost over fifteen games by more than 10 runs.

Head coach Reginald Morris will have his hands full this off-season as he looks to implement his player development program, while hitting the recruiting trail looking for the next Lady Magicians.
