The Lady Magicians faced a challenging road test this past weekend as they traveled to Tuskegee University for a three game conference series. Despite falling in all three contests, the Lady Magicians showed flashes of resilience and individual standout performances in the face of a strong Tuskegee squad.
In game one, LeMoyne-Owen was limited offensively in a 9 to 1 loss. The Lady Magicians recorded just two hits on the afternoon, but one of those came from Jaci Joiner, who delivered a double and accounted for the team's lone run scored. Kelby Harvey also added a hit, while the team drew three walks in an effort to create opportunities. In the circle, Khaylani Bailey battled through four innings, allowing nine runs while working to limit further damage against an aggressive Tuskegee lineup.
Game two saw a much stronger offensive showing from LeMoyne-Owen, as the Lady Magicians tallied nine hits and scored six runs. Joiner led the charge with a perfect 3 for 3 performance at the plate, scoring two runs and driving in one. Bailey delivered a standout effort as well, going 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, providing key production in the middle of the lineup. Harvey crossed the plate twice, while Aiden Hughes added an RBI to round out a well balanced offensive effort. Despite the improved hitting, Tuskegee capitalized on key moments and secured a 14 to 6 victory.
In the series finale, LeMoyne-Owen continued to compete but fell 12 to 2. The Lady Magicians again recorded two hits, with Kerrielle Brown providing one of the highlights with a double. The team managed to push across two runs, including an RBI from Jaci Joiner, but defensive struggles proved costly as LeMoyne-Owen committed eight errors in the game. Khaylani Bailey worked in the circle and limited earned runs in key situations, but Tuskegee capitalized on extra opportunities to pull away.
Across the series, several Lady Magicians stood out with their individual efforts. Jaci Joiner was a consistent presence at the plate, going 4 for 8 across the final two games with a double, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Khaylani Bailey also had an impressive series, finishing 3 for 3 in game two with three RBIs and adding production both offensively and in the circle. Kelby Harvey contributed multiple runs scored and continued to be active at the top of the lineup.
While the results did not fall in their favor, the Lady Magicians demonstrated the ability to compete and generate offense against conference competition. The experience gained in this series will be valuable as the team continues to develop and refine its approach on both sides of the field.
LeMoyne-Owen will now return home for a non conference series against Lincoln University on March 31 and April 1. Games one and two are scheduled for March 31 at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., with games three and four set for April 1 at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The Lady Magicians will look to regroup and turn this experience into momentum as they prepare for their next opportunity to compete on their home field.
