The Lady Magicians endured a demanding four game non conference series at home against Lincoln University. Although the results did not go in their favor, the Lady Magicians continued to compete with effort and determination throughout the series while several LeMoyne-Owen players delivered strong individual moments at the plate.
In game one, LeMoyne-Owen dropped a close 4 to 3 decision in what was the most competitive contest of the series. The Lady Magicians finished with three runs on five hits and kept themselves within striking distance throughout the afternoon. LeMoyne-Owen showed the ability to create offense in key spots and made Lincoln work deep into the game. Even though the Lady Magicians came up one run short, the opener showed that they were capable of battling late and putting pressure on the opposition.
Game two proved to be more difficult, as LeMoyne-Owen fell 8 to 0. The Lady Magicians were limited to one hit in the contest and could never fully settle into an offensive rhythm. Still, the team continued to compete inning by inning and looked for chances to manufacture momentum. The result was frustrating, but it also set the stage for a stronger response from the lineup on the second day of the series.
That response came in game three, when LeMoyne-Owen pushed across three runs in a 10 to 3 loss. The Lady Magicians produced some of their best offensive swings of the weekend in that contest. Kelby Harvey delivered one of the biggest hits of the game with a two run double, bringing home Reagan Petry and Khaylani Bailey. Jaci Joiner followed with an RBI double that scored Harvey, helping LeMoyne-Owen put together a meaningful scoring burst. KiLitta Sowell also reached base in the inning as the Lady Magicians applied pressure with timely contact. Even though Lincoln pulled away later, game three showed that the offense still had life and could put together productive innings.
In the series finale, LeMoyne-Owen was shut out 11 to 0, but there were still individual efforts worth noting from the Lady Magicians. Kelby Harvey opened one of the better scoring threats with a double, and Jaci Joiner followed by drawing a walk. KiLitta Sowell also worked a walk in the same frame, giving LeMoyne-Owen a chance to break through. The Lady Magicians finished with three hits in the game, but a double play halted a key opportunity and prevented them from turning early traffic into runs. Despite the setback, LeMoyne-Owen continued to battle and looked for chances to shift momentum back in its favor.
Across the four game series, several Lady Magicians stood out. Kelby Harvey was one of the most important offensive contributors, highlighted by her two run double in game three and her extra base hit in game four. Jaci Joiner also delivered in key moments, including an RBI double in game three, and remained one of the team's central offensive pieces throughout the series. KiLitta Sowell contributed by getting on base in important spots, while Khaylani Bailey and Reagan Petry both factored into LeMoyne-Owen's scoring in game three.
Taken together, the final two games showed encouraging flashes from the Lady Magicians lineup. Harvey and Joiner each produced extra base hits in crucial moments, and LeMoyne-Owen found ways to put runners in scoring position even when the overall results did not follow. Those are the kinds of stretches the Lady Magicians will look to build on as the season moves forward.
LeMoyne-Owen will now turn its attention to its next series on April 11 and April 12, when the Lady Magicians remain at home for a conference matchup against Spring Hill College. Games one and two are scheduled for April 11 at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., while game three will be played on April 12 at 11:00 a.m. and will serve as Senior Day for the Lady Magicians. As the final home series of the season approaches, LeMoyne-Owen will be eager to turn hard lessons into a strong finish on its home field.
