Magicians Surge Past Central State in Dominant Home Victory

LeMoyne Owen College delivered a statement performance on its home floor, overpowering Central State University 85 to 60 in a commanding conference victory. After a narrow setback in their previous outing, the Magicians responded with energy, precision, and a complete team effort that showcased both their defensive tenacity and offensive firepower.

Defense once again set the tone for LeMoyne-Owen College. The Magicians held the Marauders to their third lowest point total in conference play, limiting Central State to just 60 points. They disrupted offensive rhythm throughout the night, allowing only 11 assists while forcing 14 turnovers. On the glass, LeMoyne Owen controlled the boards with a decisive 33 to 23 rebounding advantage, eliminating second chance opportunities for the Marauders and creating extra possessions of their own. Central State shot 46.0 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from beyond the arc, numbers that reflect steady defensive pressure and contested looks.

While the defense was impressive, the Magicians' offensive execution ultimately defined the contest. LeMoyne Owen shot an outstanding 51.7 percent from the field and an extraordinary 52.4 percent from three point range. Crisp ball movement and confident shooting allowed the Magicians to stretch the floor and dictate tempo. Their ability to capitalize on additional opportunities proved pivotal, as they outscored Central State 24 to 10 in second chance points. The depth of the roster was equally impactful, with the LeMoyne Owen bench outscoring the Marauders' reserves 34 to 13.

Andre Walker II led the offensive charge with a team high 19 points off the bench. He added five assists and three rebounds while delivering one of the most efficient shooting performances of the season. Walker connected on five three pointers and shot an exceptional 71.42 percent from beyond the arc, igniting the home crowd with timely and confident shot making.

Gerrard Living followed closely with 18 points and five rebounds, providing consistent scoring in the half court offense and contributing on the defensive end. His presence on the perimeter and willingness to attack the basket kept Central State's defense under constant pressure.

Marial Malek proved to be a force on both ends of the floor. He finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, and two assists while shooting 66.66 percent from the field and 66.66 percent from three point range. His efficiency and physicality helped anchor the interior and provided balance to the Magicians' offensive attack.

Junior guard LaDricus Pittman delivered another well rounded performance, recording 13 points, three rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Pittman's leadership and ability to impact the game in multiple ways once again underscored his importance to the team's success.

The victory represents more than just a mark in the win column. It highlighted the cohesion, depth, and determination that define this Magicians squad. From disciplined defense to explosive scoring, every facet of the game reflected preparation and collective commitment.

LeMoyne Owen now shifts its focus to a highly anticipated road match-up against long time rival Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. The contest is scheduled for Saturday, February 14 at 3:00 pm. With momentum building and postseason positioning at stake, the Magicians will look to carry this dominant performance into another critical conference battle as they pursue a series sweep over the Dragons.
