The LOC men's basketball team defeated Central State University 69-62 giving the team their 4th win of the season.
Despite their 4-18 record the Magicians have had more than 10 games decided by 5 or less points. The team is hoping that this latest win will help them gain the momentum to turn their season around. With less than ten games left the Magicians realize the importance of peeking at the right time. For the Magicians this was a revenge game, CSU defeated the Magicians 69-86 earlier last month on the road at Central State. Last season, the two teams went to overtime where CSU came away on top. This time around would be a different story, the Magicians took a 35-26 lead into half time and would never trail the rest of the ball game. The second the Magicians were outscored 36-34, however that wouldn't be enough for Central State to overcome the 9 point halftime deficit.
Sophomore guard
Khalil Genwright scored 21 points and grabbed 4 rebounds leading all players in scoring. Also in double figures for the Magicians were newcomers Ronald Berkerly (12) and Abduol Sacko.
The Magicians will return to action this Monday at home vs Kentucky State.
