The LOC men's basketball team is now 4-21 on the season after their latest loss at home to rival Lane College.
Lane took control of the ball game from the opening tip and would take a take a 37-27 lead into halftime time. In the second half sophomore forward Austin Jordan would catch fire and lead a Magicians run that would draw them as close as 4 points. The LOC point guard finished the game with 23 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assist. Despite the stellar performance from Jordan, the Magicians would go on to lose 77-72. Lane has now defeated the Magicians in their last 4 contest. Also in double figures for the Magicians leading scorer Khalil Genwright who scored 18 points to go along with 4 rebounds and freshman forward Abdoul Sacko who poured in 14 points to go along with 9 rebounds.
The Magicians have now loss more than ten ball games decided by 6 or less points.That makes the team a scary opponent come March. Despite their record in the win-loss column, the team is still very upbeat and has lots of life. Regardless of how the regular season plays out, A team usually has to win the conference championship to advance to the Division II NCAA tournament. Although their have been a few times the conference has gotten an at large bid, that's not the position the Magicians find themselves in.
The Magicians have 3 games left to get ready for tournament play and will return to action Monday at home vs. Miles College. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30pm.
