Magicians Close Regular Season in Style with Dominant Win Over Allen

LeMoyne-Owen College delivered one of its most complete performances of the season, defeating Allen University 89 to 69 to close out the regular season on a high note. The victory secured a 12 and 12 conference record for the Magicians and capped an impressive late season surge in which they won seven of their final nine games.

From the opening tip, LeMoyne-Owen College displayed sharp execution on both ends of the floor. Defensively, the Magicians limited the Yellow Jackets to just 25 percent shooting from beyond the arc. They held Allen to 13 assists while forcing 16 turnovers, consistently disrupting passing lanes and contesting shots. The defensive pressure translated directly into offense, as LeMoyne-Owen scored 27 points off turnovers and controlled the tempo throughout the night.

Offensively, the Magicians were equally impressive. They shot 51.6 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from three point range, showcasing balance and confidence across the roster. Depth proved to be a decisive advantage, with the LeMoyne Owen bench outscoring Allen 45 to 22. The Magicians also dominated second chance opportunities, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 23 to 4 in that category. Hustle plays, offensive rebounds, and quick ball movement fueled a scoring attack that never allowed Allen to mount a serious comeback.

Andre Walker II led the charge with a dynamic all around performance. The junior guard finished with a game high 20 points while adding two rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Walker shot 57.14 percent from the field and 50 percent from three point range, continuing his stretch of efficient and impactful play. His ability to create for teammates while also scoring at key moments set the tone for the Magicians' offensive rhythm.

LaDricus Pittman once again provided steady leadership, contributing 14 points along with six assists and one steal. His consistency and play-making have been central to LeMoyne-Owen's strong finish to the season. Pittman's poise in managing the offense and generating open looks has helped elevate the entire team.

Marial Malek continued to assert himself as one of the conference's most reliable interior presences. He recorded his third double double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds, adding two steals to his stat line. Malek's control of the glass and defensive intensity anchored the Magicians in the paint and limited Allen's second chance opportunities.

Joshua Whitehurst maintained his impressive shooting form, connecting on 50 percent of his three point attempts and knocking down four shots from beyond the arc. He finished with 12 points, two rebounds, and five assists, contributing both scoring and play-making in a well rounded effort.

The victory reflects the cohesion and confidence the Magicians have developed as the season progressed. Balanced scoring, disciplined defense, and strong bench production have defined their late season momentum. With the regular season complete, LeMoyne-Owen now turns its attention to postseason play.

The Magicians will host Albany State University in a first round SIAC Tournament match-up this Saturday, February 28 at Bruce Johnson Hall. Earlier in the season, LeMoyne-Owen suffered a home loss to the Golden Rams, adding extra motivation for this rematch. Tip off is scheduled for 2:00 pm, and the stakes could not be higher as the Magicians look to extend their improbable run and pursue a conference championship.

With momentum on their side and belief growing within the locker room, LeMoyne-Owen enters the tournament prepared to compete and determined to defy expectations once again.
