The LOC men's basketball team is now 1-1 in pre-season play after this past weekend's 76-60 loss on the road at Dillard.
The pre-season has been very entertaining for the Magicians who have now played in two homecoming games to start their pre-season. Hopefully come March these experiences will be useful for the Magicians who were just 4-23 last season. The atmosphere at Dillard was very loud and at times hostile, giving it a regular season feel. Right from the tip-off Dillard would jump out on the Magicians and never look back, taking a 43-24 lead into the half. The stifling Dillard defense forced 12 first half turnovers and held the Magicians to under 40 percent from the field.
In the second half LOC would adjust to the defensive scheme of Dillard and find some continuity, outscoring Dillard 36-33 in the second half. Despite a better second half showing, the Magicians would finish with 21 turnovers and and shoot just %32 percent from the field. They also struggled at the free throw line missing 11 of their 28 attempts. One bright spot for the Magicians came from 6'7 wing
LaCurtis Dunn who scored 15 points to go along with 3 rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes off the bench
The Magicians will return to action this Saturday, November 8th at Rust College. The game is for 3:00pm.
