The LOC men's basketball team defeated Savannah State University 69-57 last night in the teams home-opener. After a heartbreaking road loss to Delta State University in their season opener the Magicians were eager to get back on the court and add a win to the win column. The Magicians did just that. For much of the evening the Magicians led the defending SIAC champs and took all the momentum into halftime. In the first half the Magicians outscored the Tigers 26-23, while shooting %47 percent from the field and just %16 percent from the three point distance.
In the second half the Magicians would outscore Savannah 43-34 on their way to their first win of the season. It was also the first career win for LOC head men's basketball Faragi Phillips. Junior guard
Kyle Houston was a crucial ingredient to the teams success and scored 25 points to go along with 4 steals. The 6'2 sharp shooter had four of the Magicians five 3 point baskets and shot 10-15 from the field. Over the course of the first two games Houston is averaging 21ppg, 3apg, and is shooting %60 from the field.
The Magicians are currently 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in SIAC play. The team returns to action November 22nd at home versus Edward Waters University. The game will be played at 5:00pm.
