After defeating Central State and Kentucky State at home earlier last week. The Magicians would fall to both teams less than 7 days later.
Both games would come down to the final seconds and it would be free-throws that would eventually cost the Magicians victories. In the game versus Central State the Magicians would have arguably their worst shooting game of the season, shooting 18-73 from the field. The were also just 6-27 from the three point line. To make matters worse they shot just 19-29 from the free-throw line.
The Magicians trailed by as many as 11 points midway through the second half but would cut the lead to two points with just under 50 seconds remaining in the game. In the end Central State would capitalize on their opportunities and come away with a 67-61 victory.
LOC VS KSU
In the game against Kentucky State the Magicians would trail 54-38 at half-time and couldn't seem to slow Kentucky State down. In the second half the Magicians would make a run of their own and cut a 18 point Kentucky State lead to 97-96 with just two minutes remaining in the game. Once again free-throw shooting, rebounding, and turnovers would come back to haunt the Magicians.
Despite outscoring Kentucky State 61-51 in the second half, the Magicians would come up 6 points short of a miraculous come back. After going 7-7 from the free-throw line in the first half, the Magicians would finish the game 30-39 from the strike.
Sophomore forward Matthew Spears scored a game high 27 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Magicians while leading scoring
Christian Wells added 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Also in double-figures was
Tariq Shepherd (17),
Micah Evans(16), and
Chris Peoples (13).
The Magicians return to action this weekend on the road at Spring Hill College.
