For the first time in the last three seasons the LOC men's basketball team dropped their season opener to Delta State University.
The Magicians entered the regular season coming off back to back losses to The University of Memphis, and Talladega College. The Magicians loss the contest by an average of 35 points per game.
In the first half the Magicians outscored the Statesmen 45-42. The second half would be a completely different story. The two teams went back and for the first twelve minutes of the game. Things would quickly change after Delta St. took a 68-64 lead with about 7:00 minutes remaining in the ball game. In that time frame DSU would outscore the Magicians 31-17 and go on to win the ball game 99-81.
Senior forward Christian Wells led all scorers with 32 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 3 assist. Transfer forward Philpps Joseph would also score in figures pouring in 20 points and grabbing 6 rebounds.
The Magicians return to action Sunday November 12 for their home-opener vs Christian Brothers University.
