The LeMoyne-Owen College men's basketball team picked up their first win of the season this past weekend at home versus Christian Brothers University.
The Magicians defeated CBU 85-82 in a thriller that would require overtime. Not only was this the first win of the season for the Magicians it was also win number 1 of the Antonio Harris Era.
The Magicians would jump out to an 8-2 lead that would eventually increase to 26-19. From then on CBU would control the reminder of the half and outscore the Magicians 23-8 to take a 42-34 lead into half.
In the second half of the ball game the Magicians would use halftime adjustments to regain the lead of the ball game. The game would go back and forth for much of the night. The Magicians got contributions from multiple players and finished the contest with 5 players in double figures.
With 1 second remaining in regulation the Magicians would have a chance to take the lead on a missed three point attempt from Micah Evans as time expired. In overtime no one shined brighter than guards Matt Spears and Chris Peoples who hit back to back 3 pointers to give the Magicians the lead in the final seconds of the game.
Christian Wells led the ball club with 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds for the Magicians while Peoples scored 20 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 3 assist. Micah Evans and Matt Spears scored 14 points each while Junior point guard Tariq Shepherd chipped in with 10 points.
The Magicians return to action this weekend in Atlanta,Georgia where they will compete in the HBCU-All Stars Challenge.
