The LOC women's basketball team opened their exhibition season up with a 49-27 homecoming win Over Talladega College.
The Lady Magicians were picked to finish 6th in the SIAC West pre-season rankings and came into Saturday afternoon's game with a chip on their shoulder. Last season the team finished 9-19 and loss their first pre-season game. "It's always good to start the pre-season off with a win, especially considering it was homecoming and we had a packed house", said Lady Magicians head coach Antony Partee.
Despite picking up the win the Lady Magicians understand they have plenty to work on before their season opener at Bruce-Johnson Hall on November 10th.
The team scored just 49 points and transfer guard Jade Salters was the lone player in double figures. Salters scored 14 points to go along with 5 rebounds. Jaya Hedgepeth added 9 points to go along with a team high 6 rebounds.
Although the team shot just %32 percent from the field and were 3-15 from three, they put together one of the best defensive performances in the Partee Era giving up just 27 points in 40 Minutes.
The Lady Magicians will take the floor again Saturday November 4th in an exhibition game with Harris-Stowe. The game will be played in Bruce-Johnson Hall and is scheduled for 5:30pm.
