The LeMoyne-Owen College men's basketball team outlasted Fisk University 76-72, on the road at Fisk.
One thing the two ball clubs share in common is that they are both coached by former NBA lottery picks. Magicians head coach Bonzi Wells and Fisk University head coach Kenny Anderson faced off for the first time in their coaching careers, Wednesday night in Nashville.
The game went down to the wire and would be decided in the final seconds of play. The Magicians would eventually pull away 76-72 improving their record to 3-0.
Sophomore guard Tariq Shepherd led all scorers with 21 points and was one of three Magicians in double figures. Sophomore forward Micah Evans added 16 points to go along with 8 rebounds while Gjerard Wilson chipped in with 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds of his own.
The Magicians will take the floor again this weekend as they will compete in the inaugural HBCU All-Stars Challenge at Morehouse College.
