The LeMoyne-Owen College women's basketball team has been nothing less than exciting over the course of their last few ball games and are currently enjoying a 3 game winning streak.
On January 8th the team loss a heartbreaker in the final seconds of play as a Miles College guard hit a shot at the buzzer to give them a 71-70 win over the Lady Magicians.
Monday night the team found themselves on the other end of that heartbreak. Sophomore guard Tya Freeman hit a contested layup in the final seconds of play to give the Lady Magicians a 78-77 win in Overtime. "These last 3 games we have really executed at a high level and I think things are starting to make sense to our team, we're going to continue to keep working at it", said head coach Anthony Partee.
The 78 points the team scored is a season high and for the first time this year the Lady Magicians had five players score in double-figures. Tya Freeman led the way with 21points while senior forward Patrisha Lollis scored 14 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. Riley Madison(12), Heaven Thompson(12) and Takya Bennett(11) also scored in double-figures for the Lady Magicians.
The team will look to extend its winning streak to four games this upcoming Saturday on the road at Tuskegee University. The game is scheduled to begin at 1pm.
