The LeMoyne-Owen women's basketball team cruised past Fort Valley State University winning 73-53 Monday night at Bruce-Johnson Hall. This was a much needed win for the 4-9 Lady Magicians that snapped a six game losing streak. It also felt a little more sweet to ladies who lost on a buzzer beater against Miles College 48 hours prior to defeating Fort Valley State University
This was the second meeting between the two teams season. Fort Valley won the first meeting 66-52 December 7th at their place. "It felt good to be able to get off the losing side, this was a great win for our team and hopefully we can build off it" said head coach Anthony Partee.
For the second straight game the Lady Magicians scored in the seventies and had multiple players in double figures. Amil Mitchell led all scorers with 20 points shooting 7-14 from the field and 4-8 from three point range. Also in double figures for the team was Tya Freeman (18) and Patricia Lollis (12).
The Lady Magicians return to action this Saturday January 15th at home, where they will host Kentucky State University. The game is scheduled to begin at 1pm.
