For the second time in a 48 hour span the LeMoyne-Owen men's basketball team has lost on heart breaking shots at the buzzer.
On January 8th the Magicians fell 65-63 to Miles College after sophomore guard Truitt Spencer sunk a floater over multiple Magician defenders with 2.7 seconds remaining, giving Miles College the road win. Monday night January 10th the team loss 70-69 to Fort Valley State University who hit a floater with 5.4 seconds remaining in the game. LeMoyne-Owen guard Gjerard Wilson had chance to win the ball game with a fade away three-pointer that bounced off the backboard as time expired.
The Magicians are now 7-6 on the season and have lost four of their last five ball games. In those four losses they have loss by an average of 5.7 points per game. "It's definitely been frustrating losing games that we feel like we should have won but we will learn from it and get better moving forward", said Freshman forward Micah Evans. Evans led the Magicians with 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds on the evening. Also in double figures was senior Jaquan Lawrence who scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Gjerard Wilson chipped in with 12 points.
The Magicians will take the court again Saturday, January 15th at home vs Kentucky State University. The game is scheduled to begin at 3pm.
