January 23, 2011 – ATLANTA –The Magicians fought hard but lost in overtime 74-69 to Morehouse College.
This game was originally scheduled for January 10, but cancelled because of the Atlanta snowstorm.
The loss puts the Magicians to 3-14 (3-11 SIAC).
The Magicians were down 23-33 at the half. In the second half, the Magicians went on a run to tie the game 34-34 behind the play of Calvin Stoudemire who poured in 10 points the half while grabbing 7 rebounds. The Magicians would go up by as many as 6 points with just 5:42 to go in the game. From there Morehouse hit a couple of shots and would tie the game 55-55 with just 2:54 left in the game. From there neither team could pull away for the victory and the score was tied at the end of the half 59-59.
In overtime, the Magicians would lead by only a point on a made free throw by A.J. Nance with 2:28 to go. From there Morehouse would go up by 6 points to hang on to the win 74-69.
For the game the Magicians shot 25-58 (43%) from the field, 3-10 (30%) from the three point line and 16-26 (62%) from the free throw line.
Four Magicians scored in double figures. Calvin Stoudemire led the way with 17 points and Chris Brown added 16 points.
The Magicians will be back in action January 15th against Stillman College in Bruce Hall Arena. Game time is 7:30p.m.
