The LOC Track & Field Team was back in action this passed weekend in the annual KMS Invitational in Birmingham Alabama.
The Magicians currently have the newest program in the conference as the Magicians Track & Field team joined the SIAC in 2021. Building a program from scratch is no easy task and the Magicians are doing it brick by brick. For the Magicians is progress over perfection. The team has had its highs in lows in its two meets this season but head coach Terry Rhodes knows it's a Marathon not a sprint.
In the KMS Invite the Magicians competed against the likes of Talladega College, Tuskegee, Tennessee Wesleyan, Morehouse, Mississippi Valley, Life & more. The Magicians Sierra Crusoe shinned just as bright as anyone for the team and won first place in the shot out and is emerging for as a star for the Lady Magicians. Dariah Webb also had a good showing as she finished 3rd in the high jump. Jojo Wells qualified for the finals in 60 meter hurdles. "I'm just really proud of them, we have a bunch of freshman and a few sophomore and they are holding their own against programs with seniors and grad school students.
On the men's side Isaiah Brigem finished 12th in the 60 meter dash, that finish was the best of all Magicians. Jamien Wright was also impressive for the Magicians and finished 7th in the 60 Meter hurdles. The men's 4x200 relay also made strides this invitational and are looking forward to improving each week.
"I feel like we have some really good athletes and we're are going to be just fine moving forward", said Magicians head coach Terry Rhodes.
