The LeMoyne-Owen men's basketball team picked up their second win this week in an overtime win at home versus Central State University. For the second straight season the Magicians would need late game heroics to defeat Central State at Bruce-Johnson Hall.
Last season
Micah Evans banked in a 3 point field goal just as time expired to give the Magicians a 1 point victory and keep their regular season championship hopes alive. This season it would be more late game heroics from Evans who was fouled on a 3 pointer and hit two of three free-throws to send the game to overtime. Prior to this play the Magicians would trail by 5 points with just 18 seconds remaining in the ball game.
In overtime the Magicians would outscore Central State 16-13 to pick up their 8th win of the season. Matthew Spears led the Magicians with 22 points points and grabbed 6 rebounds while
Micah Evans and
Chris Peoples scored 14 and 13 points and
Christian Wells added 10.
