The LeMoyne-Owen women's volleyball team returned to Bruce-Johnson Hall for the first time since winning their final match of the 2022 season.
The Lady Magicians hosted the SIAC Mini-Cluster which included Allen University, Benedict College and Lane. The Lady Magicians opened the cluster with a 3-1 win over Allen University. This marked the first win of the season for the Lady Magicians."This was a great bounce back after a tough loss against Tougaloo, I was pleased with how our team responded", said head coach Reginald Morris.
The team won the opening set 25-21 and set the pace for the rest of the match. The Lady Magicians would lose the next set and then close out the match with 25-21 and 28-26 wins against the visitors from South Carolina.
Offensively it was Lauren Canada who stood out with 16 kills and Kaylyn Harris who assisted on 26 points. Defensively libero Honesty Campbell was all over the place with 25 digs.
In the next Match the Lady Magicians struggled with Benedict College who took the first set 25-15. LOC would bounce back and take set number two 25-21 before losing sets 3 and four and eventually dropping the match in four sets.
Senior Middle Arah Anoma came off the bench and gave the Lady Magicians a spark coming up with three huge blocks on the evening. Harris and Canada would lead the Lady Magicians in kills and assist while Honesty Campbell provided 17 digs.
The team will return to action Tuesday at home for a rematch against Mississippi Valley State. MVSU defeated the Lady Magicians in their season opener in three sets.
