Former Magician Jermeelah Chambers was named assistant men and women's track and field coach in December of 2022. Since then Chambers has made an immediate impact on athletics.
Prior to accepting the position, Chambers had been very persistent about getting a job in athletics at her old stomping grounds. Chambers interviewed to be assistant women's basketball coach prior to being named LOC head softball coach, a title she would only hold briefly.
When a position opened up on the LOC track and field coaching staff it was a no brainer for Chambers. "Jermeelah is an extremely hard worker who is very passionate about athletics, and our student athletes", said athletic director William Anderson.
The Former LOC forward went to LeMoyne-Owen from 2008-2010 prior to transferring her senior year. Since then she has been a regular at Bruce-Johnson Hall whether it's supporting current athletes or bringing prospective athletes to LOC.
Not only is Chambers on the LOC track and field coaching staff, she's also coaches multiple sports at Trezevant High School. She serves as head coach for girls volleyball, as well as track and field. She is also assistant coach for the girls basketball team.
At Trezevant she has developed a reputation of being a role model, a person student athletes can depend on, and someone whose work ethic is unquestioned. Chambers has already brought those qualities to LeMoyne-Owen.
Coach Chambers is involved in all areas of the program including recruiting, skill development, and practice implementation. "I've always wanted the opportunity to help bring the Magic back to LOC, and I'm confident that we will do just that", said Chambers.
