Magicians Track & Field Feeling Optimistic After Rhodes College Invite

The LOC men's track and field team was able to showcase their talents here in the city of Memphis in the Rhodes College Invitational this past weekend.

The team has adopted  a one day at a time approach since the hire of new head coach Terry Rhodes who took over the program late last year after the departure of former head coach Rochelle Stevens.

The men's team had athletes participate in the 400 meter relay, 110 meter hurdles,400 meter dash,100 meter dash and  long jump.

In the 400 meter relay Derrick Bennet, Mekai Ray, Mateen Smith, and David Wright placed 4th and finished the relay in 44.02 seconds behind Rhodes, Christian Brothers and Trevecca Nazarene. The Magicians also had an impressive showing in the king where freshman Mateen Smith posted a score of 5.90M. That was good enough for a fourth place finish.

Although the Magicians are inexperienced at the collegiate level their growth over such a short time span in undeniable.
