The LeMoyne-Owen College men's basketball team is now 0-2 in the SIAC after a 90-75 loss to Benedict College.
Just eight months ago it was this same Benedict College team that broke the hearts of the Magicians on a game winning three point shot that would eliminate the Magicians from post season play. A shot that still haunts the Magicians to this day.
The Magicians trailed 48-34 at halftime and lacked a bit of their fire power with leading scorer
Christian Wells out of the lineup. In the second half the Magicians would make a run and cut the Tigers lead to 5 points forcing Benedict to call time out. The timeout would seem effective as the Tigers would make a run of thee own and push the lead to as many as 18 points.
The two teams would tie 42-42 in the second half, but wouldn't be enough for the Magicians to get back in the game.
Sophomore wing
Matt Spears led the Magicians in scoring with 24 points on 10-16 shooting and grabbed 5 rebounds. Also in double figures for the Magicians was sophomore guard
Austin Jordan (15) and junior guard
Tariq Shepherd (11). Newcomer
Chris Peoples flirted with a double-double scoring 11points and grabbing 9 rebounds to go along with 5 assist.
