The LOC men and women's track & field teams opened their season on the road at the indoor HBCU Classic.
The Magicians headed to Louisville, Kentucky on a mission under first year head coach Terrance Rhodes. The program is in its first season and both the men and women's team are predominantly freshman. Although the teams are young, they had stellar performances from a variety of student athletes.
On the women's side freshman Stacey Howard stood out with her first place win in the the 200 meter dash.
For the men' team Freshman Derrick Bennett had an outstanding day, winning first place in the men's 600 meter, while teammate Mateen Smith finished first in the 200 meter dash.
The Track team will return to action January 22nd as they will participate in the KMS Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.
