The LeMoyne Owen College- women's volleyball team dropped its first two SIAC games of the season this past weekend on their trip to South Carolina. On this trip the team went head to head with Allen University and Benedict College.
Their two opponents for the weekend had a combined record of 11-3, head coach
Reginald Morris knew the team would have their hands full. In the first game against Allen University, the team was defeated in three games losing 20-25, 20-25, and 15-25. Freshman
Kyndall Stewart led the team with a career high seven kills, while
N'Kechinyere Egbe chipped in with 6.
Defensively senior
Kaylyn Howard provided the team with 13 digs while
Madison Stepter came away 3 blocks. Despite some good defensive efforts from the Lady Magicians, they couldn't quite slow down the Lady Yellow Jackets.
Bendict College
In game number two of the weekend, the Lady Magicians loss in three sets to Benedict College.
The first game went back in fourth with several lead changes, the Magicians would eventually lose the set 21-25. In the second set the Lady Tigers jumped out to a double digit lead and never looked back, defeating the Lady Magicians 25-9. Set number three went similar to set number one, with both teams making spectacular plays. In the end it would be too much Benedict College. The Lady Tigers would complete the sweep with a 25-21 victory.
Sy'Ryia Sandifer led team in kills with seven while
Kaylyn Harris paced the offense with 17 assist. Defensively, the Lady Magicians got a strong performance from sophomore
Ashaqway McThomas who led the team with 15 digs. Senior N'Kechyere Egbe provided a season high four blocks.
After this past weekend, the Lady Magicians are now 1-9 and 0-2 in conference play. The Lady Magicians will take the court again September 20th at Rust College. The match is set to begin at 5:00pm.
