The LeMoyne-Owen College women's basketball team is currently enjoying a three game winning streak, after defeating Spring Hill College on Senior Night.
For Takya Bennett, Heaven Thompson, Patrisha Lollis, Amil Mitchell and Tya Freeman, Saturday night's game may have been a little more emotional than usual.This group of seniors have made a huge impact on this team.They wanted to put on a good performance in front of their fans, friends, and families ; mission accomplished.
The Lady Magicians led by as many as twenty points in the contest and remained in control the whole night. Amil Mitchell and Takya Bennett scored in double figures in the game, providing their team with 12 and 10 points a piece. Patrisha Lollis was a dominant force on the glass and grabbed 21 rebounds. Lollis is one of the best rebounders in the SIAC, this performance makes this the second game this season that she has grabbed 20 or more rebounds.
With wins against, Lane College, Tougaloo College, and Spring Hill College, the Lady Magicians have a ton of momentum heading into tonight's ball game against Tuskegee University. The two teams went head to head a little under a month ago on January 22nd. The Lady Magicians trailed 35-21 at halftime, and would never lead in the ball game. Tuskegee overwhelmed the Lady Magicians with their size and shot making ability, winning 78-54.
Head Coach Antony Partee and his 10-11 ball club will get the chance to redeem themselves tonight at Bruce-Johnson Hall. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm.
