Undermanned Magicians Drop Third Game Straight

The LeMoyne-Owen College men's basketball team loss 80-77 this past Saturday at Bruce-Johnson Hall,in their second matchup of the season with Spring Hill College.

It was Senior Night for the Magicians, who were short handed due to injury. Seniors Jaquan Lawrence and Trevor Blackmon were sidelined with injuries, both have missed the last two games.

The Magicians have found themselves in more close games than any other team in the SIAC conference, losing eight games by fewer than seven points each.The first matchup with Spring Hill College went to double overtime, the Magicians would go on to lose 96-89. This time around the Magicians would find themselves in yet another barn burner. The team trailed 78-77 with just 16 seconds remaining in the game, and would be forced to foul. Spring Hill hit both free-throws and forced a contested 3 point field goal by Andrew Anderson, the ball bounced off the back of the rim as time expired, giving them the win. This win gives Spring Hill a sweep of the season series. The Magicians shot just 12-25 from the free-throw line and were 6-16 in the second half. 

The Magicians were led in scoring by junior Andrew Anderson. The 5'10 point guard poured in 22 points off the bench. Also in double-figures for the Magicians were Gjerard Wilson (17), Micah Evans (13), and senior Dwight Murray (11). With losses to Lane College, Tougaloo College, and Spring Hill College, the Magicians have now lost their last three ball games. 

After starting the season 7-3, the Magicians are now 4-7 since Christmas break. The team will look to get back on the right track Monday night at Bruce-Johnson Hall, where they will host Tuskegee University. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm.
