The LOC women's volleyball team finished their season this past weekend, in a homecoming match with Rust College.
Not only was it homecoming, it was also senior day. The team defeated Rust in four sets and sent seniors Kaylyn Howard and N'Kechinyere Egbe out with a win. "You always want to win on senior night, and I was proud that we were able to get the job done", said Lady Magicians head coach Reginald Morris.
Egbe and Howard played vital roles for the team this season, and came up big in their final game at LOC. Howard finished the game with 10 kills and 18 digs while Egbe provided 11 kills and 8 blocks. The Lady Magicians will have the tough task of replacing the two in the the 2023 season.
The 2022 season was a rough one for the team, who finished just 7-26 overall and 3-16 in conference play. The Lady Magicians finished 6th in the SIAC west division standings and will miss the conference tournament for the 2nd consecutive season.
On the bright side, the Lady Magicians got really good play from some of their younger players and hopefully that gives them some momentum heading into this off-season.
It's going to big off-season for the Lady Magicians as they look to rebuild the program and get back to the SIAC tournament. This Lady Magician roster was made up of a two seniors and several underclassmen who will look to step into bigger roles next season.
The Lady Magicians will begin off-season workouts in the spring.
